- Engine (Viper 212cc) Viper engines are sourced from Chongqing Rato Power. Honda GX200 / Predator 212 / Tillotson share much of the spec; aftermarket parts compatibility is usually high. Not the engine to expect manufacturer recall pages for — this is a clone-style power plant.

- Recalls CPSC SaferProducts.gov Ardisam doesn't publish a dedicated recall page; the federal CPSC database is the canonical place to look up any consumer-product recall affecting this unit by manufacturer name + serial.
Logged 6 Jun 2026 — Dan reporting a jam since the post-service run. The K32's two-stage geometry (chipper knives on the side chute, free-swinging Tri-Hammer + J-Hammer drums above) jams in three characteristic ways. The recovery procedure is the same regardless of which one bit you.
- Engine OFF · spark plug disconnected. Non-negotiable before anything else. Free-swinging hammers store rotational energy — they can spin a quarter-turn under hand load and remove a finger. The plug pull is the only certain interlock.
- Remove the collection bag, then detach the discharge chute. Per the manufacturer's documented procedure: collection bag off → discharge chute off exposes the hammers and knives directly. Most jams are cleared at this step with a flat-blade screwdriver or short pry bar from underneath, not from the feed side. Wear cut-resistant gloves; the chipper knives stay sharp even when wedged.
- If it's the side chipper chute (branches stuck): Usually a branch above the rated 3-inch diameter, or a forked piece where two stems hit the knives at the same time. Open the chute, work it back from the discharge side. Don't try to feed through — the knives will re-jam on it. If a knife edge looks rolled or chipped, that's the next part to replace before the unit runs cleanly again (Ardisam parts diagram 30520).
- If it's the top hopper (shredded debris packed in): The Tri-Hammers can't get an angle on the load. Two causes: (a) wet or green wood gumming up the impact faces, (b) feeding at the wrong angle so material sits parallel to the rotation plane. Per multiple owner reviews, the K32 needs a sturdy stick to push debris into the hammer arc at ~30° from vertical. Clear by opening the discharge chute and rotating the hammer assembly by hand (engine OFF, plug out) until the pack falls free.
- If the engine bogs but nothing visible jams: Belt slip or sheared shear pin. The shear pin is a deliberate sacrificial element on most Tazz drives — it shears before the gearbox or engine takes the hit. Check the parts diagram for the pin location; spares are ~$3 and worth keeping a small stock of. Belt tension is the next check after that.
- Prevention rules learned the hard way:
(1) Stay under 2-inch effective diameter — the rated 3 inches assumes straight, dry, single-stem wood with sharp knives. Forks, knots, and green wood all eat into the margin.
(2) Dry wood only. Green wood gums the hammer faces and turns the shredder into a press.
(3) Feed in short bursts, not continuous push — let the hammers reset between loads.
(4) After every session, run a small armful of dry leaves through to scrub the hammer faces clean.
(5) Keep a sturdy push-stick at the unit — never use your hand to clear the top hopper while it's running. - If recovery doesn't work — escalation. Back to N&J Repair (the May 2026 drop-off shop). Two-week turnaround historically; document the symptom + what was being fed when it jammed before dropping it off. If the dataplate-side housing has bowed or paint is chipped from the impact zone, mention it explicitly — it can indicate hammer-pivot damage that the visual inspection won't catch.
