Network cabling shortlist
Structured-cabling cohort for the New Hope property — Cat6a runs, patch panel, terminations. Two candidates carried from first-pass research (Bridge Cable, H-Tech Solutions); neither contacted yet. The defining risk in this trade is that most firms are commercial shops for whom a house is an awkward small job — the criteria below are built to separate the ones who genuinely do residential from the ones who merely list it.
Vetting criteria:
- Residential is a real line of business, not a website checkbox — commercial cabling shops price a house as a nuisance job and send the B crew. Ask what share of jobs are homes, and for two recent residential references
- Cat6a specifically, not 'Cat6 or better' — Cat6a is thicker, stiffer, has a tighter bend radius and needs larger conduit. A crew fluent in Cat6 can still botch 6a pulls through finished walls
- Certification testing with a report — insist on a Fluke (or equivalent) certification test per drop, handed over as a PDF. Untested drops are the single most common way a job passes visually and fails at 10G
- Fishing finished walls vs new construction — retrofit through insulated, finished walls is a different skill from stapling to open studs. Confirm which they are quoting and how they handle drywall repair
- Who terminates and where it lands — patch panel + rack/enclosure location, keystone vs punchdown, labelling scheme. A tidy termination point is the difference between a maintainable house and a cupboard of spaghetti
- Licence + insurance + permit posture — PA has no statewide low-voltage licence, so this is a GL + workers-comp question and a township-permit question, not a state-licence one

Candidate · first-pass signal 78/100 🟡 · not yet contacted
2745 Terwood Rd, Willow Grove, PA 19090 (Montgomery County) · ~25 mi to New Hope · (877) 832-1206 · additional Philadelphia warehouse + sales offices
Structured cabling since 2006 — Cat5e/6/6a, fibre, access control, video surveillance. Serves Eastern PA, NJ, DE. Lists residential as a sector alongside commercial. 4.9★ across 61 reviews on Birdeye. No BBB profile located under either Bridge Cable or Bridge Global Services, LLC — that is the single axis holding the score under GREEN.
Next: BBB search under the LLC name and any DBA · confirm what share of work is residential and ask for two Bucks-area home references · confirm Cat6a retrofit-through-finished-walls experience · request Fluke certification reports as a deliverable · get a local direct-dial rather than the 877.

Open slot — A third quote — deliberately from a smaller local shop

What we're looking for: a two-or-three-person outfit that does houses as its normal work, to price against the two larger firms above. Expect a materially different number; a house is a rounding error to a commercial cabling company and a real job to a small one.
Candidates already surfaced, unvetted: Smart Digital Tech (Doylestown · Cat5e/6/6a + fibre, residential + commercial) · Venture Security, LLC (Bucks County · low-voltage + data wiring, free on-site estimates) · All Systems Audio & Video (Montgomery/Bucks/Philadelphia · residential data + AV).

Open slot — Community research — the axis the web search could not fill
Shortlist building
Why it is still open: searches for Reddit and forum recommendations returned only the installers' own marketing pages. No independent community signal was found for any candidate, so no candidate can clear the BBB/social-proof axis on review volume alone.
Where to look: r/HomeNetworking and r/Bucks_County search by firm name · NextDoor New Hope / Solebury · the Bucks County Facebook trade groups · and the highest-value source for this trade — ask the electricians already trusted at the property (Aratech) who they sub low-voltage to.

Open slot — Wi-Fi / AP design, if the scope grows
Shortlist building
What we're looking for: whoever pulls the cable is not necessarily who should design AP placement. If the job expands from 'runs to rooms' to 'whole-house wireless that actually works', that is a design exercise — heat-map survey, AP count and siting, PoE budget, controller choice.
Where to find: Ubiquiti / Ruckus certified installer locators · the cabling vendor's own referral (ask who they hand wireless design to) · overlap with the AV trades above.
